At just 32 years old, Tanasia Lattin has already built a name for herself as one of Shreveport’s most versatile creative forces. From painting and poetry to fashion design and music composition, Lattin’s work is stitched together by one common thread, authentic self-expression.
“I’ve been an artist since elementary school,” Lattin shared. “Art was always how I made sense of the world.”
Born and raised in Shreveport, Lattin officially launched her personal brand Rico Raro in 2021. The name, meaning “rich and rare,” captures both her creative philosophy and her commitment to staying true to herself. The brand’s gold airplane logo symbolizes elevation, a concept that continues to define her work and her journey.
Lattin’s artistic path began with fashion. She first caught attention by distressing jeans, turning ordinary denim into statement pieces. It wasn’t long before her passion for uniqueness evolved into full-fledged fashion design, complete with embroidery, sewing, and customizations that reflect her bold perspective.
“I always wanted to set myself apart,” she said. “Not just follow trends, but create something that feels real.”
In addition to fashion, Lattin is a dedicated painter and has showcased her work at ArtBreak, a celebrated youth art festival in Shreveport. Her creativity also extends to customizing sneakers with vivid artwork, making each pair a wearable canvas.
As a songwriter and music composer, Lattin finds joy in writing for others, often collaborating on lyrics and melodies. She also works as a graphic designer, layering visuals with emotion and meaning. So far, she has hosted three fashion shows, continuing to build her presence in the regional fashion scene.
Outside the studio, Lattin dedicates time to mentoring youth, particularly through basketball training. She sees it as another way to build confidence, discipline, and purpose in young people.
“My goal is always to inspire in all the things that I do,” Lattin said. Tanasia believes in cultivating the sense of a can-do spirit with everyone she encounters. With Rico Raro taking flight and her portfolio of talents growing, Tanasia Lattin is proving that creativity can be both a calling and a career. In a world that often encourages people to fit in, Lattin continues to stand out, rich, rare, and ready for what’s next.
